Посколько технически вопрос был про PC XT (а не АТ и выше ;) ), то добавлю что для XP и 8088 частота повышалась с 4.77 до 8. В сегодняшних PC подобного эффекта можно добится выключением L1/L2 cache (эффекта ессно Lo, а не Hi).
